Senior Sessions
Research is flying off the neuroscience community's shelves touting the benefits of music instruction. It turns out that neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to make new connections, adapt and grow sharper, is an active feature of humans at EVERY age. And music is one of the best known ways to engage it. But the old adage, "use it or lose it" is also more research-supported than ever before.
At Chords & Voices, we create cohorts of beginning and intermediate retirement-age learners that will challenge each other to sharpen both musical and social skills. You'll work with one teacher and a cohort of 5 or 6 other seniors. We'll tailor instruction to match the musical sensibilities and tastes in the class. Then we'll cap off each quarter with a perform-and-connect event somewhere in the community.
